Combining perennial favourites with wonderful new
discoveries, these immediately appealing pieces reflect
the much-loved repertoire at the heart of a King's Singers
programme, performed with the skill and flair that
distinguishes the group as one of the world's most popular
a cappella ensembles. Includes works by Elgar,
Schumann, Schubert and Saint-Saens, as well as a new
piece by popular American composer Libby Larsen.
This latest venture between Signum Classics and The
King's Singers follows hot on the heels of a Live DVD and
CD release of their 2008 performance for the BBC Proms
in the Royal Albert Hall (SIGDVD005 and SIGCD150), and
the 2008 Grammy-nominated album Simple Gifts
(SIGCD121).

Romance du Soir: BBC Music Magazine
Here's a stunning display of unaccompanied part-singing by six consummate vocal artists. The repertoire mixes lighter items (a nimble, witty account of Saint Saens Serenade d'hiver) with more serious (a brace of exquisitely melancholy John Wilbye madrigals). Nestled snugly between is A Lover's Journey, four bright, technically busy...

Romance Du Soir: Classics Today
King's Singers fans who particularly appreciate the group's smoothly polished, impeccably balanced interpretations of English, French, and German partsong repertoire will be delighted with this nearly 70-minute program. Unlike the processed sound and unusually close listening perspective we heard on the sextet's recent studio "pop" album, Simple Gifts (which just...

BBC review, Charlotte Gardner
If only all artists could find such an elegant way of bridging these two musical worlds.
